Spectacular Sports

At Richard Lee we believe that PE is uniquely inclusive and democratic, bringing pupils of every conceivable background together.

  • It challenges young people in a way that no other subject can, testing both their physical and mental capabilities.
  • Furthermore, it also holds an elevated place in our school by the virtue of the skills it develops and also by the values it teaches. PE helps pupils develop personally, as well as developing the social concepts of fairness and personal responsibility. Our children take on different roles and responsibilities, including leadership, coaching and officiating.
  • Through the range of experiences that PE offers, they learn how to be effective in competitive, creative and challenging situations. On a day-to-day basis, we inspire children to reach new heights (literally in the case of the high jump) and to explore their capabilities with confidence.

Coventry City Schools League

Match report by Evan (vice captain) and Callum (captain)

On Tuesday 15th November, our school football team form children in years 5 and 6, played a match against Ernsford Grange. Ernsford Grange scored an early goal, sending a huge wake up call to our team. We gathered our composure and started to play the game the way we normally play. At half time the score was 0-1; we were one goal down! We had a team talk and came out for the second half with more confidence. It showed! Their keeper tried hard to stop us from scoring but our captain Callum scored the second goal making it one all. Good goal keeping and defensive work from both teams made it an exciting and nervous game. Richard Lee came under a lot of pressure in the last five minutes of the game. We defended well but gave away a free kick which Ernsford Grange scored from two minutes before the final whistle. The game ended in a two all draw. We played an amazing game, with both goals scored from Callum.
