We made a calendar with pictures of the four seasons on.
Early in the month of December it snowed!
Going back in time to what life used to be like....
We played with toys from many years ago. We used our sense of touch, sight and hearing.
Raising money for Children In Need.
Launching our new topic 'Memory Box'. Mrs Ridgway came to tell us what life was like when she was a little girl. No television, computers or mobile phones but lots of fun skipping and playing with her teddy and dolls.
Year 1 have been looking for signs of the changing seasons
We've been busy in the creative area too.
We've used construction to create models of animals. We really thought about what they looked like.....
National Poetry Day - Performing our animal-themed poem
Paws, Claws and Whiskers.
Soft fur, sharp claws, twitching whiskers - the children will be finding out what their favourite animal is. Is it one that meows? One that barks? maybe one that scurries or slithers?
From pets at home to animals in the zoo, they will discover what animals like to eat and where they like to sleep. Do they know how to look after a rabbit? A cat? Or even a snake?
They might find out how the elephant got his trunk and how the rhinoceros got his leathery skin or maybe how the dog got his waggy tail! They will learn how to create a food chain to show who eats who. Which animals are herbivores and which are carnivores?
They will learn how to take care of pets - how to feed them, clean them and look after their daily needs.

All of this through a simple free app from the App Store and the play Store. Year One had a fantastic time landing on the mon, searching for moon buggies and exploring craters.

The children also thought about what it means to be a great friend. They all made a link that became part of a whole school paper chain, each one sharing a message of friendship.
