The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding which has been allocated to schools since April 2011. The Government believes that this is the best way to address the current inequalities by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage, reaches the children who need it most i.e. those from low income families, armed forces families and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months. In 2012/2013 eligibility was broadened to include children who have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years.
It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, is spent as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils at their school.
Our aim is to narrow the gap in attainment and educational opportunity between children attracting pupil premium funding and those children from more privileged backgrounds. We want to enable children to reach their full potential both academically and socially.
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
