Imagine leaving home for an unknown period of time, packing your belongings in a small box, no bigger than a shoe box. The children will need to think carefully what they would need and to bring their box of belongings into school.
The children will think carefully about which part of the United Kingdom they might have been evacuated to. They will think how it might have felt to have evacuated and separated from their families.
They will use the Diary of Anne Frank to write from a child's perspective of war and of the persecution of the Jews.
They will read Goodnight Mr Tom and use this as a basis for their own writing.
The children will research the impact the war had on Coventry and find out about the symbolism of the poppy from World War 1.
